Everland (Korean: 에버랜드)

South Korea's largest amusement park known as 'Everland" is located at Everland Resort in Yongin, a city in Gyeonggi-do province, only approximately 40 minutes from the center of Seoul. This theme park attract nearly seven million visitors each year, and was ranked 16'th place in the world for amusement park attendance back in 2014.

 



Caribbean Bay 
Here you can enjoy swimming, water amusement rides, and relax in hot spring waters all year round. This water park have different facilities including both indoor and outdoor pools, spa, sauna, a wave pool and slides like the Water Bobsleigh and Mega Storm. Caribbean Bay is the largest water park in the world, and it is a popular family destination.

Everland is divided into five zones; Global Fair, Zoo Topia, European Adventure, Magic Land and American Adventure.

Global Fair is primarily a place for food, souvenirs and pictures. Shops, restaurants and services such as stroller rental and lockers are to be found here.

Zoo Topia is an animal-themed portion and exhibits 2 000 animals of 201 species. Here you will find a petting zoo, pony rides and animal shows. A small zoo which houses polar bears, sea lions, penguins, bears, tigers and primates is located here. A safari bus ride is available which shows animals such as ligers and bears . All visitors stay in the bus. For those that don't know, a liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger.
You may have heard about 'Kosik', a male Indian elephant, which made headlines in September 2006 stating that he could imitate certain Korean words.

European Adventure has restaurants and architecture imitating European styles. Here you can find a flower garden surrounded by a train, games and arcades.

Magic Land has detailed buildings and attractions. You can find attractions like a log flume, a futuristic flying ride and a robot ride. Different restaurants and stands are also to be found here.

American Adventure here themes from American history is presented. Two Wild West rides, including the "Eagle's Fortress" thrill ride, and the rodeo.
In Rock Ville 1950 is the theme and music choice. At The Double Rock Spin, which is the main attraction, live bands play near the Rolling X-train, which is a roller coaster in the park.

Everland is open to visitors all year long and they house tons of various attractions which suits all ages. They have different themes festivals depending on the time of the year, examples are; Tulip Festival, Rose Festival, Summer Splash, Halloween Festival, Romantic Illumination etc.


Above you can see which time of the year the different themed festivals take place. Dates may vary from year to year.

Tulip Festival 
This festival marks the onset of spring from March to April each year. Over 1.2 million tulips in 100 different varieties are featured in this festival including Apeldoorns, Synaeda Blue and Pink Diamonds. Visitors get the chance to walk among beautiful scenery created by gorgeous flowers, and stroll around the Four Seasons Garden.
Other flower-themed attractions during spring include the Four Seasons Garden, Flower Street, Flower Magic Tower and the Musical LED Rose Garden, which are all worth a visit, both day and night.

Rose Festival
Two musical events are a must-see in this festival:
 “Alice in Wonderland,” a musical based on the novel, features 16 actors and actresses teaching dance steps. The performers are dressed as characters from the famous Lewis Carroll tale and dance with members of the audience during the show.
“Rosina’s Love Adventure” is a live concert where nine musicians and three actors sing songs for visiting couples. Actors dress up as Rosina and her two lovers, while the musicians sing romantic songs.
850 different kinds of roses are planted in the gardens. Rare species such as Garden Party, John F. Kennedy, Moon Shadow, Mister Lincoln and Casanova are featured.
Three-meter tall heart-shaped rose topiaries are situated along the streets with other exotic decorations, perfect for photographing.

Summer Splash
During Jack’s Splash Parade visitors can have fun squirting each other with water guns, while water cannons shoot powerful streams of cool water soaking everyone involved in the event.

Happy Halloween 
During a period of two months, every night is Halloween & Horror Night: visitors can dress up as their favorite monsters and run loose with packs of zombies for some fright-tastic fun.
Brave visitors can get in the queue for the Horror Safari, which features  Walking Dead-looking zombies who chase visitors seated on the Safari bus..

Winter Wonderland
During December and January, a 26-meter-tall, richly decorated tree are to be seen during the Winter Wonderland festival. The Rose Garden and Magic Garden are both elegantly decorated with glowing light sculptures shaped like hearts, angel wings and chariots, creating a romantic atmosphere for all to enjoy.
At night, visitors can take in the Moonlight Parade which features an unforgettable stream of brightly lit decorations that warms the hearts of all those watching.

Romantic Illumination
The Romantic Magic Garden with the theme of love and proposal starting from "Beginning of Love" and ending with "the Fruit of Love" and "Happy Ending".
From the Romantic Magic Garden to the Rose Castle lights in the form of a gorgeous dome and a tunnel are to be seen.

Hello people! Have you missed me? Of course you have :P (attempt of being funny. #Failed). I have been thinking of what kind of randomness I want to fill this blog with, and I have figured out a plan, or at least something that could help me to start writing something useful. Common K-drama words & phrases #1

Aigoo (Korean: 아이고 / 아이구 ): Usually used by older people when they find things difficult. "Aigoo" can be used by anyone when they find themselves in frustrating situations. The Korean equivalent of "aw man" or "geez" in English. Ajusshi/ Ajeossi (Korean:  아저씨 ): Literally means 'uncle', but is used in polite conversation to refer to a man who is older than you, and a person you don't know well. Kind of the Korean equivalent of calling someone 'Sir" in English.  Ajumma (Korean:  아줌마 ): This is a term used towards middle-aged married women. Women in their 30's may feel offended when called 'Ajumma'.  Babo (Korean:  바보 ):  Korean word meaning 'silly' or 'idiot', depending on the intensity. Friends usually use 'babo' in a more light-hearted tone toward each other.  Chaebol (Korean: 재벌 ): 'Chae' meaning "wealth or property" and 'bol' meaning "faction or clan".
