CF: Short for 'Commercial film', usually starring k-pop stars and k-drama actors. Check out the CF for SK telecom starring BTS and Jessi down below. Debut: A first public appearance on a stage, on television etc. The meaning of the word 'debut' has changed throughout the years, a few years ago a 'debut' was something mysterious where a few teasers was all fans got prior to their debut. Today survival shows are made where you can follow a group long before their debut, and thus they might 'debut' with a bigger fanbase and much more attention at their 'debut day' than they would have had without it. Fan Fiction: Fictional stories written by fans starring k-pop idols and/or actors. These stories usually have romance genres, with erotic details. Black Ocean: When a large group of fans deliberately turn of their light sticks to show hate towards the performing K-pop idols/idol on stage. Fan ser vice:  Used to describe one or several act(s) an idol/idol group intentionally does to please fans. Originates from the ani me and manga fandom, but is also used in other fandoms. Examples of 'fan service' includes; skinship between members, shower scenes (k-drama) and showing off abs.  Hallyu (Korean:  한류 ) : Means 'Korean wave'. 'Hallyu Star' is usually used to describe a popular Korean idol in western countries, but which is not so popular in Korea or Asia. The 'Korean Wave' is all about increased interest worldwide in Korean culture (K-pop and K-dramas) and tradition.  Hwaiting (Korean: 화이팅 ) : The Korean pronunciation of the English word 'fighting'. As a K-popper you encounter quite many unfamiliar words. It is not always easy understanding what certain words mean. I have thus come up with this segment which I call 'Common K-pop words & phrases'. In this segment I will explain words and phrases you might encounter on your K-pop journey. If there are some words you have trouble understanding, let me know in the comments, and I will see what I can do. ^.^ Aegyo (Korean: 애교): cute acting by either a male or female celebrity. Often expected of Korean celebrities. The idea is to charm fans. Expressed through facial expressions, gestures and/or a baby voice. All-kill: When a K-pop song achieves #1 on every major Korean music chart at the same time. Usually not long after its release. Music charts such as; MelOn, Daum, MNet and Naver.
